The Secret to Making Perfect Cold Coffee

The Secret to Making Perfect Cold Coffee

I don’t know about you, but I am a complete grouch in the morning unless I’ve had my cup of coffee. Just the smell of it brewing is enough to chase the “grouchiness” away. I love cold coffee, and I actually prefer it over a hot “Cup o’ Joe”, but I don’t like the price tag that goes along with buying already made cold coffee. I am going to show you the secret to making your own perfect cold coffee, using everything you already have at home.

What do you do with all that coffee that’s still in the pot after you’ve had your fill? Most people just toss it down the sink. KEEP IT! Pour it into a glass container, or other container that you don’t mind getting a little stained by holding coffee. Keep it in your refrigerator so it gets nice and cold. You can keep the cold coffee up to two weeks in the fridge.

Fill up ice-cube trays with the leftover coffee.

The Secret to Making Perfect Cold Coffee

This is the SECRET to Making Perfect Cold Coffee!

Using ice cubes made from your coffee will make your cold coffee stay cold, but not water it down like plain ice would do. You keep all the flavor of the coffee! I pop mine out of the tray and store them in zip-lock bags in the freezer.

Every time my husband makes a pot of coffee, once it’s cooled down and he is finished, I am making coffee ice cubes and saving the rest! Such a great way to recycle.

That’s it! Easy right? Now you just need to build that perfect cup of ice coffee. I will give you my formula for the perfect glass!

  • Use a nice tall glass. (Don’t use plastic cups, glass just makes it taste better)
  • Place at least 3 to 4 coffee ice cubes into your glass
  • Pour your cold coffee about 3/4 of the way full in your glass.
  • Add about a teaspoon or so of Splenda (You can use your own choice of sweetener)
  • Add about a tablespoon or more of your favorite flavored creamer (I use International Delight White Chocolate Mocha)
  • Top the whole glass off with milk. (I use skim just to watch calories)
